Back to Basics Yoga Workshops

Back to Basics workshops are run on the first Sunday afternoon of each month at Opal Yoga Studio in Bridport, Dorset.
Back to Basics Workshops have been designed to give you the time and space to explore the foundations of a safe and effective yoga practise, to take time out for yourselves, and to bring about a deeper awareness of our own body and its particular requirements. With a strong emphasis on functional anatomy, alignment and safety, these workshops are aimed at helping you to work at your own level of ability and progress at your own pace.
Dawn Mason, founder and facilitator of Back to Basics workshops, is an experienced and knowledgeable Yoga and Pilates teacher.
Dawn has undertaken extensive training with the Institute of Yoga Sports Science to become an advanced Yoga Sports Coach, specializing in yoga for sport, functional anatomy and injury prevention and rehabilitation through these disciplines.
With an intuitive knowledge and understanding of the body, you can rest assured, you are in safe hands!
Sunday 6th February 2-5pm

THE FOOT FOUNDATION
In this workshop we will be exploring the foundation of your practice and indeed all movement.......your feet!
We will look at the structure and biomechanics of the foot and how this relates to structural stability and functional movement throughout the rest of the body. Using foot freeing techniques and lots of standing poses to practise foot placement, we will move towards a greater sense of freedom, flexibility and mobility in our bodies.
This workshop is suitable for everyone and particularly useful for sportsmen and women to help with injury prevention.
We will finish the afternoon with tea and cake!
Cost £40 or £100 for all 3 workshops

Sunday 6th March 2-5pm
THE CORE CONNECTION AND FUNCTIONAL STABILITY

In this workshop we will be exploring the breath and core stability. Through right breathing our bodies can switch on our deep postural muscles, supporting the skeletal system, allowing for more freedom, flexibility and mobility in all our movements.
Not to be confused with a breathing workshop, we will be exploring breath led movement with gentle yoga flows, moving into dynamic flows and finishing with deep stretching.
Suitable for everyone and especially helpful for individuals participating in dynamic sports.
…………..as always there will be tea and cake!

Cost £40 or |£100 for all 3 workshops

Sunday 3rd April
THE HIP AND SHOULDER CONNECTION

In this workshop we will be exploring the connection between the hips and the shoulders, finding freedom and balance from a starting point of structural stability. The hips and the shoulders are intricacy connected by a complex structure of muscles and fascia.
By working with them as a unit we can encourage a greater range and ease of movement and increased flexibility, helping to prevent injuries as we move into spring with a sense of ease and freedom in our bodies.
Suitable for everyone and especially helpful for individuals with back and shoulder injuries……..and great for improving your golf swing with the warmer weather on its way!
………………Tea and Cake!
Cost: £40 or £100 for all 3 workshops
